John Christopher ("Chris") Beam is an accomplished executive, operational strategist, and business leader with more than four decades of experience across the energy, technology, financial services, and gaming & entertainment industries. Throughout his career, he has established a reputation for driving operational excellence, financial performance, organizational growth, and workforce development within both privately held and publicly traded organizations.

Beam currently serves as Managing Member of Above-Average Returns, where he provides strategic consulting in business operations, financial analysis, organizational effectiveness, workforce strategy, and investment management. His career reflects a unique blend of executive leadership, entrepreneurial success, operational expertise, and financial acumen.

Prior to his current role, Beam served as Director of Permian Basin Operations for Select Energy Services, where he led large-scale operational activities in one of North America's most active energy-producing regions. He was responsible for operational performance, workforce leadership, customer engagement, safety, and business growth initiatives supporting a broad portfolio of energy clients.

​

Before joining Select Energy Services, Beam held multiple executive leadership positions with Rockwater Energy Solutions, including General Manager of Permian Basin Operations and Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis. In these roles, he directed operational execution, strategic planning, financial forecasting, performance management, and organizational development initiatives that supported significant business growth and operational efficiency improvements.

Beam's leadership experience extends beyond the energy sector. He founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Interconnect Services, a technology company specializing in data communications and software development solutions. He also served as Operational Controller for Texas Treasure Casino Cruises, where he managed financial operations, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and business performance within the gaming and entertainment industry.

He began his career with Technical Oil Tool Corporation, later becoming part of Baker International and ultimately Baker Hughes. Starting in field operations supporting workover and drilling rigs and servicing downhole drilling data acquisition systems as a Field Service Technician, he steadily advanced through operational leadership positions of increasing responsibility. He was promoted to Area Manager and District Manager roles overseeing operations throughout South and Central Texas before transitioning to the corporate headquarters organization, where he assumed responsibility for financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and business analysis. This progression from field operations to corporate leadership established a strong foundation in operational execution, organizational leadership, and financial management that would define his subsequent executive career.

Beam earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas Permian Basin.

In addition to his corporate leadership background, Beam is an active mean-reversion options trader with advanced strategic market training under Nishant Pant, CNBC Contributor and Founder of Trading Extremes. He focuses on disciplined technical analysis, market psychology, volatility recognition, and structured risk management methodologies.

Outside of business and financial markets, Beam maintains a strong passion for aviation and holds FAA certifications as a Private Pilot and Remote Pilot (Part 107). He is committed to the principles of precision, safety, continuous learning, and disciplined decision-making in both his professional and personal pursuits.
